Two years ago I was in Denmark for holidays and noticed some weird rocks at the beach. After googling “weird rocks in Denmark“ (duh!), I found out that the whole Baltic Sea area is full of marine fossils (sea urchins, sponges, corals, etc). Since then my wife and I have been reading, traveling, and collecting fossils in many places. For me, it is not only about collecting, but it is also a relaxing/meditative experience of walking and enjoying the process of just looking around. It has also been a huge influence on my painting and illustration, and I thought it would be nice to share what I learned so far. So, from time to time we’ll be organizing little day trips near Hamburg to collect fossils and exchange ideas. If you are interested, check the info below about the next excursion!

Fossil Hunt

  • March 17 (Sunday)

  • Travemünde strand (we meet at the HBF Hamburg in the morning).

  • We stay around 4 hours at the beach and have a picnic together, so everybody is welcome to bring drinks and snacks.

  • You will get a small zine with some basic info about fossils.

  • More information about the trip will come via email after the registration.

Zine Workshop

  • March 24 (Sunday afternoon)

  • Risofort (Speckstrasse 87, Hamburg).

  • We make together a zine about the fossil hunt - photos of the day, drawings, info about the fossils, whatever you want. Each person will design one page. No experience in riso, zine making, or drawing is required.

  • In the end, we are printing and everybody can take some zines home :)

Registration: We have a very limited number, so please register below and let us know if something changes and you cannot make it, so we can give your place to another person. Also, let us know if you can make both dates. We are asking for a fee of 30 euros to cover the materials for the zine workshop. Participation in the fossil hunt is free! If you feel like it, you could pay us a coffee :)

We are fully booked, sorry! Keep an eye out for the next dates <3
